Layer 7 Launches API Architecture and Design Practice in North America and Europe

New practice will help participating companies open up their APIs for the development community to bring new applications to market

Layer 7 Technologies, a leading provider of API connectivity solutions for the enterprise, today announced the launch of its API Architecture and Design Practice in the North American and European markets. This practice group will assist enterprise customers with the design, management and operation of APIs, which will enable the developer community to create new applications on the participating companies’ platforms.

The North American practice will be led by Mike Amundsen, Layer 7’s principal API architect, who is a technical expert advising business leaders, developers and architects on how to design, develop and deploy world-class web APIs. He is the author of “Building Hypermedia APIs with HTML5 & Node” and is a regular speaker at leading industry events on the subject of API design, web application development and cloud computing. Amundsen is also an organizer for the RESTfest, a well-respected community event dedicated to supporting those interested in software architecture for distributed systems.

Ronnie Mitra, an expert in enterprise development and integration, will be leading the API Architecture and Design Practice across Europe and will be helping companies leverage their burgeoning API potential. Mitra joins Layer 7 by way of IBM, where he held the worldwide leadership role for WebSphere connectivity products including their recently announced API offering.

“Layer 7 is thrilled to expand its client facing architecture team with the API thought leadership of Mike Amundsen and Ronnie Mitra. Both join us with a deep heritage in API design and best practices coupled with enterprise knowhow,” said Francois Lascelles, chief architect, Layer 7 Technologies. “They will undoubtedly be a resource to our enterprise customers across their API initiatives.”

Amundsen will be speaking at QCon New York 2012 in a session titled “The Costs and Benefits of Building Hypermedia APIs and Node.js,” on Wednesday, June 20, 12:05-1:05 p.m. ET. Layer 7 will also be demonstrating its technology at QCon on the exhibit floor in the Layer 7 booth.
