Layer 7 Launches Version 2.1 of Its Developer Management Portal for APIs

Developer Portal Sets New Benchmark for Scale, Manageability and Analytics in API Management

Layer 7 Technologies, the leader in enterprise API security and management, today launched version 2.1 of its API Developer Portal. The new API Developer Portal adds critical deployment, management and analytic functions for large scale API management roll-outs while providing API publishers unmatched control over how APIs, docs, forums and supporting materials get exposed to different public, partner and private communities of developers. The new release of the API Portal works seamlessly with the other components of the Layer 7 API Management Suite including the API Proxy, OAuth Toolkit and Enterprise Service Manager.

New features of the API Portal version 2.1 include:

  • Enhanced API Lifecycle Management: available across geographically distributed development, test and production environments
  • Advanced Analytics: compare and rank APIs, applications and developers
  • Granular API Privacy Controls: segment APIs, docs and forums for the public, select partner or internal use
  • Enterprise Security: leverage enterprise LDAP for admin-level roles
  • Approval Workflows: gate developer requests for new accounts, API keys, rate limit changes, etc.
  • New CMS customization and deployment options

“Developer management is the centerpiece of any API management initiative targeting public, partner or private internal developers,” said Dana Crane, product manager for the API Portal at Layer 7 Technologies. “Version 2.1 of the Layer 7 API Portal extends our leadership for giving API publishers enterprise/carrier-class controls around how they onboard, manage and track developers.”

The Layer 7 API Portal is a key part of Layer 7’s API Management Suite, which lets enterprises and service providers securely expose, manage and publish their APIs to a wide audience of third-party developers, partners and internal programmers. The API Management Suite includes the API Portal for on-boarding and managing developers; the API Proxy for securing and controlling how APIs are consumed; the Enterprise Service Manager for managing the API lifecycle; and the OAuth Toolkit for simplifying the implementation of OAuth and OpenID Connect.

Layer 7’s API Portal 2.1 is available for both on-premise and cloud deployments starting August 3. Layer 7 will be demonstrating a preview of the release this week at Mobile + Web Devcon in San Francisco.
